Former javelin thrower joins Harlequins

The Stoop

Harlequins have signed loosehead prop Cameron Holenstein from French club Pau.

The 21-year-old began his sporting career as a javelin thrower in South Africa, before switching to rugby and joining Pretoria Harlequins.

In 2014, he played for the Sharks Under-19 Currie Cup team and moved to Pau the following year, helping them remain in the top tier of French rugby.

Quins director of rugby John Kingston said: “Cameron is a tough, uncompromising, physical individual who will create real competition for places at loosehead prop.

“He has been signed with a mind that he will be challenging hard for a starting berth in the not too distant future.”
