Tactics not the reason for QPR’s problems – Ramsey

Chris Ramsey says QPR’s troubled start to the season has been caused by individual errors rather than tactical mistakes.

Rangers are 10th in the Championship table after their opening nine matches and have let in 17 league goals – no team in the division has conceded more.

Their defensive shortcomings were evident in Friday’s 4-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

They were behind after only two minutes and there was no way back once the home side doubled their lead after Alejandro Faurlin had given the ball away.

Ramsey hauled Tjaronn Chery off 10 minutes before half-time and said he was “disappointed” with the Dutch midfielder’s reaction to being substituted.

Rangers were embarrssed by Fulham in a one-sided derby

The Rangers head coach also insists his team’s problems cannot be put down to tactics or formations.

He said: “We’re suffering from making some very basic individual errors in defence and I don’t know any team who can continually deal with that.

“It’s not tactical. When the ball gets crossed into the box and you’ve got three against one and he scores, it’s not tactical.

“When we have the ball on the edge of our box and we give it to them and the guy scores, it’s not about formations or anything is it? It’s bad play.”

Ramsey will consider making changes after seeing his team fail to win in four matches.

“I’ll sit back, have a look at the game and decide later in the week,” he said.

  • And what about Sandro...not fit enough for that squad What's he got 2 broken legs?!!!

  • Manager picks the players.... Enough said!!! Surely we could have kept at least one of Barton or Dunne at least we would have leadership on the pitch or were they regarded as ready replacements for Ramsey?

  • he just has to go . No talk of nice guy, give him a chance, patience, bla, bla bla. We have been woeful since he took over – fact. The team are as flat as a pancake, we have no spark, we have no ideas, we are one dimensional, our football is just rubbish and having a few individual stars has masked the problems. No Mr manager (the guy who is paid a wack to manage the team) you can’t say every week individual errors cost us!!!!err a few individual bits of magic have masked the fact you are one of the worst appointments since we tried to be a comedy club a few years ago. Yes Phillips for a few games last season or Charlie getting goals out of nothing.

Last season, for the first time ever, I missed a home game towards the end as i was so fed up with the way we were being managed – and make no mistake, without the change and a spend of around £10m we would have stayed up. The team had something about them and played enough good football at home to have a decent chance – remember man city, villa, west brom, leicester, liverpool (we could have won that). Arsenal, C*****, and spuds – they just took their few chances but we were still a decent team.

Since then really? Time to get a proper professional manager and try to salvage something now. There is no doubt and the longer this nonsense runs the worse it will get. The money has changed so much we can’t just talk about consolidation. With one of the most talented squads in the division we have to go up again, as next season we won’t, and there will be another 3 strong teams plus some others looking like they will roll us over. Is it not too much expect that we can get the team going and aim for a top finish if the right things are done now! And what muppet let Barton go – or not replace him with a leader. We had nothing in reply this week, last week or at any game this season. Captain, what captain. Leaderless, headless, managerless, clueless and useless – sort it out!
