Rangers fail to land West Ham man

QPR made a pre-deadline attempt to sign Matt Jarvis on loan from West Ham, believing Mauro Zarate could return to Upton Park.

Rangers wanted winger Jarvis, 28, to join them for the rest of the season.

However, Premier League rules mean West Ham could not recall Zarate during the same transfer window they loaned him to the R’s.

It meant QPR were unable to bring in Jarvis because clubs are not permitted to have more than one player on loan from another top-flight side.

Jarvis, who won an England cap in 2011, has made 68 league appearances for West Ham since joining them from Wolves for £7.5m in 2012, but only four of them have come this season.

Zarate’s appearance as a late substitute at Burnley is his only outing for Rangers since he was brought in from the Hammers on loan last month.

  • We are just west ham rejects now. West ham laughed fernando off when he tried to buy them. Clever!

  • Fernandes got in all of the players Redknapp asked for in the summer and look where we are. Don't blame him, blame the manager (and pray Austin doesn't get injured).

  • The club are now Certs for relegation.
I hold the blubbering clown that is Tony Fernandes fully responsible.
The club is a total mess.
    You haven't a clue Tony.
    We are a laughing stock.
