Ramsey: Changes have contributed to QPR’s defensive woes

Chris Ramsey has admitted he needs to establish which centre-back pairing is QPR’s best if they are to improve their woeful defensive record.

Rangers are the top scorers in the Championship but have conceded 20 league goals – no team in the division has shipped more.

Skipper Nedum Onuoha has looked short of his best at times and summer signing Gabriele Angella has also struggled since the Italian replaced Grant Hall, who was recalled for Saturday’s 4-3 win against Bolton.

“We’re still working on combinations and I think that’s why the back four isn’t as strong as it should be at times,” Ramsey said.

“One minute you’ve got Nedum and Gabby and then Nedum and Hally, then Hally and Gabby. Trying to get the right combination is seeming a little bit difficult for us at the moment.”

Ramsey’s side are next in action on 17 October when they visit Birmingham City.
