Ian Holloway suggested he would change his front two after QPR’s defeat at Bristol City.
Rangers were beaten 2-0 at Ashton Gate despite the home side playing most of the game with 10 men after Nathan Baker was sent off just after the half-hour mark.
The all-important first goal came from a set-piece, with Famara Diedhiou heading in from a corner just before half-time.
That made R’s boss Holloway question his own decision to pair Conor Washington and youngster Aramide Oteh up front again rather than start with Matt Smith, who offers an aerial presence in both penalty areas.
“Two weeks in a row now a goal from a set-piece and we’ve crumbled,” Holloway said.
“I’ve got to have a good look at myself because I’ve been trying some different combinations up front and normally Matt Smith heads them out.
“I haven’t been playing him because I haven’t had little Smythy [Paul Smyth], who I feel goes better with him than Conor.”
Smith was brought on at half-time and Rangers did cause City some problems before the second goal, but overall it was a dismal display.
Holloway claimed it was “probably my most disappointing result ever – and performance.”
He added: “What I’ve been seeing, what we’ve been doing in training, and what we’ve talked about, what we needed to do was make them work.
“When they got a man sent off that seemed to galvanise them and I think we got worse.
“That didn’t look like my team. I’ve just told them that. Some of my lads have been absolutely outstanding this season and it looked like it was a game too much for them.”
