QPR table bid for Burnley striker Austin

QPR have made an offer for Burnley striker Charlie Austin after missing out on Gary Hooper.

Celtic forward Hooper is set to join Norwich after the Canaries matched QPR’s bid for him. He had been stalling over a transfer to Loftus Road in the hope of securing a move to the Premier League.

Austin scored 28 goals last season and has netted a total of 45 in 90 games for the Clarets.

He recently saw a proposed move to Hull City collapse when he failed a medical.

If the 24-year-old signs for the R’s it may lead to Jamie Mackie joining Nottingham Forest, who are also keen on Austin.

Forest boss Billy Davies may step up his interest in Mackie if he misses out on Austin, who joined Burnley from Swindon in January 2011.

Mackie, 27, is unhappy at Loftus Road and has made it clear that he wants to leave.

  • Irish R - I'm not being bitter as a Forest fan BUT!! My honest opinion is that there's a good chance that you lot may struggle this coming season. You have without a doubt the strongest squad in the division but that doesn't automatically mean that it's nailed on that your going straight back up. If any of you lot are feeling too cocksure about it then just ask the Wolves fans about their experience of the Championship.
I think this season one way or the other you're going to find out wether or not Harrys hearts really in QPR, me personally for purely selfish reasons I hope it's not.
Regards Austin, I hope that whoever has to make the final decision at your club also shares your concerns about his dodgy knee, after all it's only fair that you leave a few decent players for the rest of us.
What's this POLL you speak of and can anybody vote?

  • Gutted over Hooper slipping through our fingers at the last second although no announcement yet :) but Charlie is a cracker of a signing if we get him and here's the second BUT his failed medical. I do not why he failed but alarm bells are ringing. Do we need another crock along with Zam and Andy. Our season could be over by Xmas if we have to rely on injury prone players. I pray Hull were over cautious but we may need another striker even if Austin signs. Poll on Saturday week!!!
