QPR make their move for Man City defender

QPR have tabled a bid for versatile Manchester City defender Nedum Onouha.

The Nigerian-born 25-year-old, who can play anywhere across the back four, was earmarked as a January transfer target by Rangers some time ago.

And the club have wasted little time in making a formal move for Onouha, who is out of favour at City and has not made a Premier League appearance this season.

Onouha, a former England Under-21 international, spent last term on loan at Sunderland.

He will make his R’s debut against Newcastle a week on Sunday if a deal can be thrashed out in time.

Manager Neil Warnock is determined to add at least one centre-back to his squad as well as a player who can play in a number of defensive positions.

Onouha ticks all boxes and QPR also remain interested in Tottenham’s Sebastien Bassong, who they were close to signing on loan during the previous transfer window.

Rangers have also spoken to the agent of transfer-listed Chelsea defender Alex.

The player is believed to be keen on a move to Loftus Road despite being offered a return to his native Brazil by both Corinthians and Santos.
