QPR to play Bournemouth in Bowles benefit match

QPR will play Bournemouth at Loftus Road in July in what will effectively be a benefit match for Stan Bowles.

It follows a campaign by fans for the club to stage a match in honour of R’s legend Bowles, who has Alzheimer’s disease.

The pre-season friendly will take place on 29 July and QPR have announced that net proceeds from all ticket sales will go towards a newly-launched ex-players’ foundation, of which Bowles will be the first recipient.

Bowles is due to attend the match. Tickets will go on sale at 10am on 12 June and will be priced at for £12 adults and £6 for under-18’s.

The foundation will be a charitable organisation that raises funds through public awareness and special events.

It will initially help provide financial support for Bowles’ care and in time will provide similar support for other former QPR players, managers and staff.

There is currently a Stan Bowles Go Fund Me account, which can be found by clicking here.
