QPR boss gets tough with Morrison

Harry Redknapp has delivered a no-nonsense message to Ravel Morrison during the player’s first week at QPR.

Morrison, 21, joined on loan this week after falling out of favour at West Ham.

He was previously shown the door by Manchester United, where his attitude was criticised by the then manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

And Rangers boss Redknapp said: “I’ve told him that he has to do it. He has to know that the only person that can help him is himself.

“He’s a young player with bags of ability. He’s got to have a run of playing well and consistently turning in good performances.

“I was pleased to take him, I just hope he can show the ability that we know he’s capable of.

“It’s our job to get the best out of him, but it’s also his job to get the best out of himself.”

Morrison is set to make his R’s debut at Charlton on Saturday.

  • I have no idea whether the rumours are true, but the only person that can mess up RM's future in football is himself. All he has to do is the right thing. Not what others tell him is the right thing - allardyce saying join my agent, his existing agent saying agitate for a move or any of that. Just turn up, train hard, play to 100% and the ret will just come incl England plaudits. Although I think his ticket to brazil is now an extreme long shot. It wouldn't have been if he could have kept up his performances from the beginning of the campaign for west ham. Unfortunately it seems something off the field interfered there and regardless if which version of events you believe - he was the only person that could choose to let it affect him. Best if luck - I'd love him back at UP.
