McClaren: QPR loan signings are not fit

Steve McClaren believes QPR’s recent loan signings will have an even greater effect once they are fully fit.

Strikers Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells have made a major impact up front, with Rangers having taken 10 points from a possible 12 since their arrivals from Brighton and Burnley respectively.

And midfielder Geoff Cameron, who was brought in from Stoke, made his full debut in Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Millwall.

Rangers boss McClaren says their influence will only increase as their match fitness improves.

“I think all three of them have had an effect since the first day they came through the door,” said McClaren.

“As soon as they came, you could see the team think ‘These are experienced Premier League players coming to help us’.

“From the first day, they’ve made a huge difference. But the rest of the team are working so hard as well.

“They’ve lifted us all, because we never looked like scoring before.

“And I’ll tell you something, they’re not fit yet. None of them had completed 90 minutes.

“They’ve got to get fitter and better and they can only do that. But while they’re doing that and we’re picking up results, we’re delighted.”

Cameron was exhausted towards the end of the Millwall game and McClaren does not expect him to be fit enough to start Saturday’s match against Norwich.
