QPR boss taking no chances with Hall

QPR boss Steve McClaren says he did not bring Grant Hall on against Peterborough because he felt it was the wrong type of game for the defender to make his first-team return in.

Hall, who missed most of last season with knee trouble and had surgery in February, recently played 45 minutes for Rangers’ development side.

He was on the substitutes’ bench for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie and Rangers, who won 2-0, hoped to bring him on.

However, with his team under some pressure in the second half, McClaren opted to bring on Ebere Eze and then introduced Ryan Manning and Matt Smith.

“He’s been training ever so well, but we’ve got to be careful with Grant,” McClaren explained.

“He’s only at the level where he’s played 45 minutes. It wasn’t a game we could experiment in and try things out and players out.

“We had Grant on the bench and wanted to give him minutes but unfortunately we couldn’t manage it.”

Meanwhile, QPR are set to confirm the signing of veteran defender Angel Rangel.
