Improved QPR ‘can do everything’ – McClaren

Steve McClaren

Steve McClaren felt QPR’s victory at Bolton underlined their improvement – and their ability to compete in the Championship.

Rangers, beaten in McClaren’s first four league matches, won 2-1 to make it seven points from three games.

On-loan strikers Nahki Wells and Tomer Hemed have made a huge difference and were influential again for the R’s, who scored two excellent goals.

Luke Freeman got the first and Ebere Eze fired in the second, both after clever link-up play.

“It’s a huge three points,” said boss McClaren.

“The improvement from the team – we’ve had to be patient in the loan market and we were. The club have been fantastic in bringing in Hemed and Wells. You can see that’s changed our team.

“We’ve shown today we can do everything. We can really play football, can compete and really work hard and get results away from home.

“It’s been the likes of Tomer, Nahki and Geoff Cameron coming in and hard work – sheer hard work on the training ground.

“I said from day one that I like the look of this squad. I think it needed experience around it and that’s what we’ve got.

“The past two performances have shown that we can compete a lot better than we did four or five weeks ago. But we’ve got to build on this.

“We’ve not just got a team, we’ve got a squad now and we can compete. We’ve just got to improve on certain things.”

Rangers’ win lifted them to 18th in the Championship table.
