Ian Holloway believes Ebere Eze’s performance in QPR’s draw at Fulham highlighted areas of the youngster’s game which need to improve.
Eze has recently broken into the Rangers side and the forward’s flair on the ball even led boss Holloway to last week compare him with club legend Stan Bowles.
However, Holloway was much less impressed with Eze’s work off the ball at Craven Cottage, where the likes of Kevin McDonald and Stefan Johansen pulled the strings in midfield for Fulham in the first half.
“What my boys have got to do is go week in, week out, knowing when they go to work without the ball,” Holloway said.
“Ebere’s so good with it at times that it never mattered when he was in the Under-23s whether he could win it back or not, because everybody was talking about that wonderful bit of skill.
“But he’s got to realise ‘Hang on, I’ve got to get close to him now. I can’t give McDonald that time. I can’t give Johansen that time to hit the ball out there to Ryan Sessegnon who is screaming down on my poor full-back’.
“We were getting dragged everywhere. It’s not rock science. You get close to your man.”

Good performance. Holloway is maybe starting to get things right.
I think he did OK yesterday but second half tactics where spot on..Everyone talks about Sessegnon but the one I would look to see us get is another youngster..O'Riley.. he played against us preseason is technincally one of the best youngsters in the country and can play 6 8 or 10..wouldnt be as expensive either??
can't knock the effort of the team to get back from 2 down, however can still knock the management of our team for NOT getting us a regular goalscoring forward all season long, chance after chance came our way with no-one to put the ball in the net,yes we scored 2 yesterday but it could have been so many more had we a confident striker in front of goal.Yet again we relied on a midfielder and a defender.
