Ian Holloway was angry that Jake Bidwell took QPR’s injury-time penalty at Reading.
Keeper Vito Mannone saved the left-back’s spot-kick at the Madejski Stadium, where Rangers were beaten 1-0.
Manager Holloway was unhappy his attacking players did not want to take the penalty.
He said: “They were hanging on for grim death at the end and then to top that off we’ve missed a penalty.
“I’ve had some words to say about that, because I’ve got a defender who was shouting about taking the penalty more than the forwards who were on the pitch.
“I pay them to score goals and I pay my defenders to defend, so I’d like it (taking a penalty) the other way around.
“Stop being so nice. Grab that ball – ‘I’m taking it’ – bang. It should be in the net. Instead we got no points.”
Conor Washington missed a great chance to equalise soon after Sone Aluko’s goal and the R’s were unable to find an equaliser despite dominating for large spells of the game.
“Some of the performance was excellent, but you don’t win games if you don’t take your chances – and that was probably the absolute classic of it today,” Holloway said.
“Who was the home team? Who was the away team? Last year when I came here it was like the Alamo the other way around, whereas today we should not have lost that game with the chances we had.”

Surely it's the manager's job is to ensure someone is lined up / instructed to take a penalty. Reminiscent of Rodney refusing to take one and as senior players argued with him, Bobby Keetch lumbered forward and smacked it straight at the goalkeeper. Hackney Marches revisited!

I think its time we let Washington go, every week all we hear is about yet another great chance he has missed and for that matter any other forward who doesn't want to take a penalty.
