QPR give trial to youngster Garton

QPR are giving a trial to youngster Billy Garton.

The midfielder’s father, also called Billy Garton, played for Manchester United in the 1980s and later emigrated with his family to the United States.

Barton junior has been looking to secure a move to a club in England and previously had a trial with Fulham.

He played for QPR’s development side in a 2-0 loss against Crystal Palace on Monday afternoon, as did Olamide Shodipo.

Winger Shodipo, back in action after injury, was the senior member of the side, which is now made up of players who have stepped up from the Under-18s after several Rangers fringe players recently left on loan.

Meanwhile, QPR defender Grant Hall believes he has fully recovered from the knee complaint which kept him sidelined.

Hall has started Rangers’ last two matches – although the first half of Saturday’s 4-3 defeat against Birmingham is one he will want to forget.

“I feel great. I don’t see there being any issues with my knee from now on,” Hall told West London Sport.

“Physically I feel fantastic – it’s the best I’ve felt in a long time – and now it’s just about getting back into game action.”
