Holloway hails squad after QPR fightback

QPR boss Ian Holloway felt his side’s comeback against 10-man Millwall underlined their fighting spirit and the strength of his squad.

Rangers trailed 2-0 before Massimo Luongo pulled a goal back and substitute Matt Smith netted a late equaliser.

Holloway said: “Normally QPR would fold, but I’m really pleased we stayed solid and understood where the spare man was – we didn’t just launch it.

“My bench is so strong these days that I can cause anybody problems, so if it’s not working then keep going and keep believing and I’ll make some changes.

“There’s some belief that we’ve got attacking options and if I use them we might get back in almost every game.

“The boys are actually disappointed that we didn’t take more of the opportunities we had. We felt we should have won.”

Former Millwall boss Holloway also hit back at the visiting fans who barracked him throughout the game.

“I kept them up, then they chose to sack me and then Neil (Harris) was in charge when they went down,” he said.

“You got one of your own in charge. Maybe that’s what you wanted in the first place.

“But don’t forget I kept you up and tried my best and if that’s not good enough for you then I don’t really care.”

  • It wasn't so much your poor managerial decisions which led to your sacking which "upset" the fans (slight understatement!) more the fact that you hung about for your ££££££ payment afterwards, like a leech sucking the life out of a club which had financially supported you.

  • You Holloway was crap at millwall we lost our identity and I don't think there was any supporter of Millwall that wasn't happy to see the back of you and to see Neil rebuild our Millwall and give us back a team that wants to play and give 100% week in week out!
