QPR v Derby player ratings

Jake Bidwell suffered a first-half injury.

QPR picked up a deserved point in a 1-1 draw with Derby at Loftus Road. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player.

Joe Lumley: 7

There was little Lumley could do to prevent Jack Marriott’s 24th-minute opener, but he underlined his shot-stopping credentials with another save from the same player soon afterwards, as well as a second-half stop to foil Harry Wilson.

Angel Rangel: 7

The veteran full-back began on the right flank, switched to the left and looked equally at ease in both roles, even if it may yet take time for his new team-mates to read some of his passes.

Toni Leistner: 6

At fault for Derby’s goal when he hesitated and allowed the through ball to bounce, Rangers’ captain improved in the second half and twice interceded to halt the dangerous Wilson in full flow.

Joel Lynch: 6

Lynch looked vulnerable to the swift counter-attack, but he did the simple things effectively, putting his foot through the ball when Derby threatened to put the home defence under sustained pressure.

Jake Bidwell: 6

Bidwell should have done better with an early chance, failing to find the target when Nakhi Wells’ cross landed on his forehead. Went off injured on the half-hour mark.

Geoff Cameron: 7

As well as netting a rare goal – his first in a QPR shirt – in clinical fashion, Cameron also did an excellent job mopping up loose balls in midfield and set up a good first-half chance for Wells.

Jordan Cousins: 6

After a bright start, supplying an opportunity for Wells, Cousins was shunted to right-back in the reshuffle that followed Bidwell’s injury and hobbled off after picking up a knock of his own midway through the second half.

Massimo Luongo: 6

Some deft touches from Luongo stood out as Rangers started strongly but, after being booked for a late challenge on Mason Mount, he looked understandably reluctant to risk tackles from then on.

Luke Freeman: 6

The midfielder looked isolated and frustrated for much of the game, although he did his best to get involved and it was his free-kick soon after the restart that ultimately led to Cameron’s equaliser.

QPR boss Steve McClaren: “I’m proud of the players in terms of contributing to what was a pulsating, high-tempo game of football.”

Nahki Wells: 8

If anyone deserved a goal it was Wells. The forward looked lively throughout as he held the ball up, chased everything and was unlucky to clip the Derby crossbar with a shot in the first half.

Ebere Eze: 7

The youngster’s link play was up to standard and he created a few half-chances, but might have done better when the ball broke his way inside the Derby penalty area during added time.

Pawel Wsolek: 6

The Polish winger replaced Bidwell after half an hour and did well going forward, even after his switch to right-back later in the game – although he scuffed the only opportunity that fell his way.

Tomer Hemed: 6

Having been sent on in place of Cousins for the final quarter of the game, Hemed always looked willing to chase the ball but there were few opportunities for him to pierce Derby’s back line.
