Transfer gossip: L’Équipe say Leeds want Barbet

Some of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…

L’Équipe say Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa wants to sign Yoann Barbet following the defender’s departure from Brentford.

Aston Villa have also been linked with the Frenchman, who is among the out-of-contract players leaving Griffin Park this summer.

Villa’s former Bees boss Dean Smith has been tipped to snap Barbet up, but L’Équipe say Bielsa is also keen.

QPR linked with Sunderland defender

QPR want Sunderland right-back Adam Matthews, it’s claimed.

Football Insider claim Rangers, who face financial restrictions, have Darnell Furlong and Osman Kakay, and have offered Angel Rangel a new deal, are looking to sign the 27-year-old Wales international.

Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley are also said to be keen on Matthews, whose Sunderland contract expires this summer.

Chelsea chasing Neres, Star claim

Chelsea are chasing a deal for Ajax forward David Neres after missing out on Luka Jovic, according to reports.

The Daily Star say Chelsea are hopeful of having a Fifa-imposed transfer ban frozen by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and are pressing ahead with summer transfer plans.

They are said to be targeting Neres after Real Madrid agreed the signing of Jovic, who recently featured for Eintracht Frankfurt against Chelsea in the Europa League.

AS link Alonso with Atletico

Marcos Alonso has again been linked with a return to his native Spain.

The Chelsea left-back, who has suffered a dip in form this season, has previously been linked with Barcelona.

And Spanish newspaper AS claim Atletico Madrid are showing an interest in Alonso ahead of a possible move.
