QPR looking at ex-Liverpool youngster Dixon-Bonner

QPR are giving a trial to former Liverpool youngster Elijah Dixon-Bonner.

He played 45 minutes for Rangers’ Under-21 side against Colchester at Loftus Road on Friday afternoon alongside the returning Jake Clarke-Salter and Luke Amos, who are making their way back from injury.

The 21-year-old midfielder was released by Liverpool at the end of last season, having moved from Arsenal as a teenager. He played under QPR head coach Mick Beale at Anfield.

Both Amos and Clarke-Salter, who are coming back from hamstring injuries, appeared for over an hour in the 2-0 win with Clarke-Salter tasting action for the first time since the opening game of the season at Blackburn in July.

It was Amos’s first game since the 3-2 win over Middlesbrough in August.

Sinclair Armstrong followed up his hat-trick against Cardiff’s Under-21s last week with another two goals in the second half of a match that also featured first-team squad members George Thomas, Conor Masterson and Olamide Shodipo.

Beale and his coaching staff of Neil Banfield, Damian Matthew and Harry Watling were all in attendance.
