Furlong plays in QPR Under-23 game

QPR: Harlington training ground

Darnell Furlong took another step towards a first-team comeback by playing for QPR’s development side on Monday afternoon.

West London Sport revealed last week that Furlong had returned to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly against West Ham.

That was the defender’s first outing since he suffered a knee injury during a pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon in July.

And Furlong played just over an hour of an Under-23 match against Millwall at Rangers’ Harlington training ground.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw, with Aramide Oteh netting with a penalty and Sebastien Bassong also scoring.

After the visitors took an early lead, Oteh tucked away a spot-kick to equalise after Paul Smyth, who later hit the bar, was fouled in the penalty area.

Millwall regained the lead but former Tottenham and Norwich defender Bassong, on as a substitute, brought Rangers level again with a header from Ilias Chair’s corner.

Bassong, a free agent, has spent several weeks training with QPR and playing in Under-23 games while looking for a new club.

Trialist Lewis Walker , who is expected to sign a one-year deal, also featured, as did Bright Osayi-Samuel.
