Field completes loan move from QPR to Norwich
Sam Field has joined Norwich City on loan from QPR.
Field, 27, will spend the rest of the season at Carrow Road ahead of a potential permanent move to the Canaries – although there is no obligation to buy included in the deal.
The move went ahead despite Derby tabling a late offer to buy him.
Field has three and a half years left on his contract at Loftus Road – he signed a new four-year deal during the summer – but has been out of favour under head coach Julien Stephan.
Derby boss John Eustace knows the midfielder well, having been QPR’s assistant manager when the player arrived in west London from West Bromwich Albion in 2021.
But Field was on his way to East Anglia when Derby’s bid was submitted and he opted to join Norwich.
West London Sport revealed at the start of the transfer window that Field and Michael Frey were in line to leave Rangers.
Striker Frey has since returned to his native Switzerland, signing for Grasshopper Zurich.
There has been interest in midfielder Jonathan Varane but no offers have matched QPR’s valuation of the midfielder.
