Hill close to signing new Rangers deal

Clint Hill is expected to sign a new deal at QPR in the next few days.

The 36-year-old defender, who has been at Loftus Road since 2010, is in discussions with the club and would like coaching role.

Hill, whose current contract is about to expire, has indicated that he will stay at Rangers.

He previously contemplated retiring at the end of last season but is now keen to prolong his playing career.

Hill recently told West London Sport: “I have to say I feel good. I want to play on.

“I did think perhaps this season might be my last but I’ve not missed a training session and in terms of fitness I feel no different to how I did a few years ago.

“It’s fair to say I’m at that age as a player where with each year you wonder if it’ll be your last. The last thing you want is to be a burden.

“But I’ve looked after myself, I’m fit, feel I’ve still got something to give and it’s not like I’ve been relying on my pace to get by, is it?”

Hill was offered a one-year contract shortly after the end of last season along with Alejandro Faurlin, who put pen to paper on Tuesday, having agreed terms earlier this month.

An option in Karl Henry’s contract gives him until the end of June to decide whether to sign a new deal at QPR. He too is expected to stay.

  • Dead right. They only seem interested in signing strikers and attacking midfielders. Guess they'll be trying a 1-5-4 formation next season.

  • Any chance of a few signings we will have no one left.
My mate Barry Pollard turns up most home games if that's any good.
Talks a good game and if your car gets crunch he can but it right after training.
So two Swindon lads, one from Bristol City, Jamey Mackey that's it.
Caulker , Matty Phillips , Charlie and probably Fer all on their way, help!!!.
    We need central defenders desperately.
Ramsey and Sir Les stating Brentford are the team QPR should emulate really.
Looks like the 60million the shareholders have written off is required back now.
Sell everyone who has a good value blame Ramsey when it all goes pair shaped.
Born on the Queens Park Estate there is no way I can jump ship let hope I don't go down with all hands. GVS
