Mick Beale is expected to make a move for Chris Willock when the season finishes.

Beale quit QPR in November to become Rangers manager and has since been planning to take Willock to the Glasgow club.

The forward’s contract expires this summer but relegation-threatened QPR intend to take up an option to extend it by a year if they stay in the Championship.

That would avert the prospect of him leaving Loftus Road on a free transfer this year, but Beale is expected to try to snap him up for a modest transfer fee given that Willock is unlikely to sign another contract with the R’s.

Willock, 25, has been plagued by hamstring trouble during the past couple of years and the excellent early-season form he showed during Beale’s short spell in west London evaporated.

But Beale remains interested in the Arsenal academy product, who was signed from Portuguese side Benfica in 2020.
