Veteran striker Moore quits Wealdstone

Veteran striker Chris Moore has left Wealdstone after just over a year at the club.

The former Brentford forward, who turned 34 on Monday, has made 46 appearances for the Stones since joining from Uxbridge in December 2012.

However, he has now left the Ryman Premier Division leaders to seek more regular football elsewhere.

Boss Gordon Bartlett said: “He desperately wants to play and we couldn’t guarantee that.

“It’s all very amicable but I am naturally disappointed.

Chris has made a great contribution in our efforts to gain success over the last 12 months and we all wish him well for the future.”

Moore was a youth team player at Brentford in the late 1990s but made a short-lived return to the club in 2006, his wages funded by £50,000 the club won thanks to a supporters’ competition.

He struggled to make an impact at Griffin Park though and rejoined former club Dagenham six months later.
