United want Williams to sign contract

Hayes & Yeading’s in-demand midfielder Luke Williams is to be offered a new contract by the club.

The 24-year-old’s current deal at United expires in the summer and he has been linked with a move into the Football League.

But boss Phil Babb said he was hopeful negotiations would began soon to keep Williams at Hayes and Yeading.

Babb told West London Sport: “Luke has been invaluable to this club for the last couple of years and long may that continue. The club are doing its utmost to keep him.”

Williams (pictured, in red) arrived at United in July 2011 and in December passed 100 appearances for the club.

In late 2011 he trained with Swansea City, then managed by Brendan Rodgers, who had coached Williams as a youngster at Reading.

His progress has been monitored by League scouts this season but a mooted move failed to materialise during the transfer window.
