Middlesex sign Christian for T20 campaign

Middlesex have recruited experienced Australian all-rounder Dan Christian for this season’s Natwest T20 Blast competition.

The 30-year-old, who was in Australia’s squad for the recent World T20, helped Hampshire win the Twenty20 in 2010 and played for Gloucestershire last year.

He has significant short-form experience, having taken more than 100 wickets and scored over 1,600 runs across 125 T20 matches.

As well as playing for several clubs in his homeland, Christian has played in two editions of the IPL, with Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “When we sat down to identify the type of cricketer we required for this summer’s NatWest T20 Blast, a seam bowling all-rounder was top of our list.

“We are therefore delighted to have attained the services of such an experienced, talented and dangerous cricketer.”

Christian, who is expected to arrive in the UK around 12 May and is set to be available for all of Middlesex’s T20 Blast group stage matches, said he was delighted to sign up for the Panthers.

He added: “The opportunity to play at Lord’s, the home of cricket, is a dream come true and I can’t wait to pull on a Middlesex shirt for the first time.”
