Middlesex loan Harris back to Glamorgan

Middlesex bowler James Harris has returned to former club Glamorgan on a month-long loan deal.

The 24-year-old has been a regular in the club’s T20 side but has only played in five County Championship matches this season, his last appearance coming in May.

Harris, who left Glamorgan to join Middlesex ahead of the 2013 season, has not been able to break into a fast bowling line-up that includes Steven Finn, Tim Murtagh and Toby Roland-Jones.

Middlesex have the right to recall him at any time and he will not be eligible to play for Glamorgan when the two sides meet in Cardiff on July 26.

Managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “Middlesex’s recent fixture schedule has meant that our fast bowlers have had regular periods of rest between County Championship matches and there has not been the need to rotate them.

“This has resulted in James not playing as regularly as any of us would have expected.

“James’ attitude remains exemplary but a player of his standing needs to be playing regular first team cricket.

“After this weekend’s match against Yorkshire in Scarborough, Middlesex do not have a County Championship game until 31 August. Glamorgan have two matches during this period.”

Harris is the second player to have been loaned out to the Division Two club this season after Tom Helm spent time there earlier in the summer.

Middlesex also have Adam Rossington out on loan at Northamptonshire.
