Middlesex batsman Newman joins Kent

Middlesex batsman Scott Newman is to join Kent on loan for the first two months of the season.

Newman, who is in the final year of a three-year contract at Middlesex, will stay with the Canterbury-based club until the end of May.

He explained: “I’m looking forward to helping get Kent off to a good start in the County Championship. That said, my main goal is to work at getting back into the first XI at Middlesex.”

Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “A player of Scott’s experience needs to be playing and this gives him the perfect opportunity to do so, so it’s a win-win situation.”
