Victory for 10-man Fulham at Norwich

Norwich 1 Fulham 3

Fulham maintained their pursuit of a play-off spot with a terrific win despite playing the second half with 10 men.

Chris Martin was sent off just before the interval at Carrow Road, where Stefan Johansen’s early goal had put the Whites ahead.

Tom Cairney’s penalty made it 2-0 and, after Cameron Jerome had pulled one back for Norwich, Floyd Ayite sealed the victory for Fulham, although they were denied a return to the top six by play-off rivals Sheffield Wednesday scoring a late winner at home to Cardiff.

Fulham opened the scoring on four minutes when Martin’s shot was deflected towards Johansen, who fired home from 25 yards out.

Sone Aluko went close to doubling the lead before Martin was red-carded after being adjudged to have elbowed Mitchell Dijks.

But Fulham were 2-0 up within a couple of minutes of the restart after Cairney netted from the spot following Ryan Bennett’s foul on Tomas Kalas.

Jerome gave the Canaries hope with a close-range header from Alex Pritchard’s cross.

But Fulham defended superbly and snatched a brilliant third when Ayite rounded keeper John Ruddy and tucked away his fourth goal in three matches.
