QPR boss does not want Taarabt back

Harry Redknapp has indicated that he has little interest in bringing Adel Taarabt back to QPR.

New Fulham boss René Meulensteen recently appeared to suggest that Taarabt may not stay at Craven Cottage beyond January if the Moroccan fails to impress him.

But there is no agreement in Taarabt’s season-long loan deal enabling the Whites to send him back to W12 early if Rangers do not want him.

Redknapp wanted Taarabt to leave.

And Redknapp seems in no mood to offer an olive branch to a player who left soon after being sent home from a pre-season trip to Devon for disciplinary reasons.

“Yes, I’ve heard that they do want him out. Let’s see what happens,” said R’s boss Redknapp.

“I’m not desperate. Players who wanted to leave in the summer because we got relegated – good luck to them at their new clubs.

“I’ve not even thought about Adel. He’s at Fulham as far as I’m concerned and Fulham are in trouble but he’s still not playing, which must be disappointing.

“Maybe he’s got to sort himself out and get in their team.”

And Redknapp, who sold Taarabt to QPR while Tottenham manager, doubts that being sent back from Fulham with his tail between his legs would force Taarabt, 24, to re-evaluate.

Redknapp said: “He had the chance to go to Fulham and play in the Premier League.

“Would he [now] get the message? He’s gone to Fulham and has he got the message there? I don’t think he has. So I don’t think he’d get the message [here].”

He added: “I just want good lads who go to bed early, get up in the morrning, come in to training, earn their thousands of pounds a week by training hard – it’s not asking too much.”
