Jokanovic plays down Fulham’s rise to the top six

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic played down the significance of his side’s climb into the play-off places after their 1-0 win at Rotherham.

Sone Aluko’s second-half goal took the Whites above Sheffield Wednesday up to sixth in the Championship table.

But Jokanovic said: “We’re not in the play-offs. I hope we’re going to be in the play-offs in May.

“We are now in the top six but we will not be given any trophy for this and we are not yet fighting in the Premier League. The job is done for today but we must be focused.”

The result confirmed Rotherham’s relegation from the Championship but they made Fulham battle for the points.

“It was a very tough game and they pressed us very strongly. It was a very dangerous game for us,” Jokanovic admitted.

“We didn’t show our best performance but we had enough concentration and finished with a clean sheet.”
