Fulham see off Norwich in FA Cup replay

Fulham 3 Norwich City 0

Steve Sidwell’s second-half goal sealed a comfortable win for Fulham in the FA Cup third-round replay at Craven Cottage.

Darren Bent and Ashkan Dejagah also scored for Rene Meulensteen’s side, who will travel to Sheffield United in round four.

Norwich made a lively start but never recovered from Bent’s 16th-minute opener.

Sebastien Bassong prevented Dejagah connecting with Pajtim Kasami’s low cross from the right but the ball then ran to the former Ipswich striker, who fired home from nine yards.

The visitors had gone close to scoring when Robert Snodgrass rattled the bar from 20 yards moments after Maarten Stekelenburg denied Josh Murphy after the Wembley-born teenager had been set up by Nathan Redmond.

Keeper Stekelenburg and captain Brede Hangeland returned after injury and Fulham’s much-changed line-up also included centre-back Dan Burn, who made his home debut.

Having gone ahead, Fulham continued to press and they doubled their lead four minutes before half-time.

Giorgos Karagounis’ perfectly-weighted pass released Alexander Kacaniklic, who pulled the ball back to give Dejagah a simple finish.

And Sidwell made it three on 68 minutes, heading in Sascha Riether’s right-wing cross.

Fulham: Stekelenburg; Riether, Hangeland, Burn, Richardson; Karagounis, Sidwell (Christensen 84); Dejagah, Kasami, Kačaniklić (Tankovic 86); Bent (Dembele 79).
Subs not used: Stockdale, Hughes, Rodallega, Dempsey.
