Boost for Jokanovic as Fulham close in on Martin

Fulham look set to sign Derby County striker Chris Martin on loan with a view to a permanent move.

West London Sport revealed on Sunday that Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic was keen to sign Martin to bolster his forward line, following the summer departures of Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele.

Jokanovic has been at odds with the Fulham hierarchy over the club’s transfer policy for some time, and confirmed those tensions when recently speaking of his frustration at not having control over signings.

So signing Martin, among the players most wanted by Jokanovic, would come as a major boost to the Serbian, particularly following the arrival of another of his main targets, Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen.

Martin has made 142 league appearances for Derby, scoring 53 times, and has featured in all five of their Championship matches this season.

He joined the East Midlands club from Norwich City in 2013, initially on loan.
