Chipped penalty sees Fulham youngsters beat Swansea City

George Williams scored a late penalty as Fulham Under-23s beat Swansea 2-1 in a top of the table Premier League 2 clash.

Wales international Williams chipped his spot-kick down the middle after Mattias Kait was pushed inside the box.

Swansea had gone in front on 27 minutes, Jordan Garrick’s effort taking a deflection on its way in.

They almost doubled their lead shortly afterwards but Whites keeper Jesse Joronen made a good save and Josh Smile cleared off the line.

And that proved important as Fulham levelled just before the break, Kait’s cross converted by Dennis Adeniran.

Both sides had chances in the second half, though the Whites were almost authors of their own downfall as Tayo Edun’s clearance hit a body in the box and cannoned off the post, Joronen then tipping the ball behind.

Edun went close to scoring at the other end before Fulham were awarded their match-winning penalty, though it took a fine clearance from Aron Davies to seal the victory.
