Transfer gossip: Fulham linked with Man Utd keeper

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…

Fulham are among three Championship clubs interested in signing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan from Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Preston, where the 22-year-old spent time on loan last season, and Wolves are also said to be keen on Johnstone.

The Mail say he has been told he can leave United on loan so that he can play first-team football.

Meanwhile, the agent of Kelechi Nwakali, a Nigerian youngster whose brother Chidiebere is on Manchester City’s books, claims Chelsea have discussed a possible deal to sign the teenager.

Klay Ekeocha has contacted a number of clubs, including City, Arsenal and West Ham, about the player since Nwakali impressed at the Under-17 World Cup.

And Ekeocha has told Nigerian media that Chelsea have shown an interest.

“We are in contact with Chelsea, Udinese and Olympiakos,” he has been quoted as saying.

“City and West Ham are no longer involved because of work permit issues. We got in touch with Arsenal and there’s no feedback yet.”
