Barton insists Rangers were the better team in defeat at Derby

Joey Barton took to Twitter after his team’s 1-0 defeat against Derby at Pride Park and said QPR had been the better team.

John Eustace’s first-half goal gave Steve McClaren’s side a victory that saw them move within one point of third-placed Rangers in the battle for automatic promotion.

But Barton tweeted: “Best team lost. Impossible to praise the officials this week. Going down to the wire. Looking forward to it.”

Rangers are missing injured striker Charlie Austin, who reacted to the result by simply writing: “Long way to go keep the faith.”

It was a much happier night for Derby’s on-loan Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford, who has impressed since joining the Rams.

Bamford tweeted: “Great result, hard work but lads were solid at the back 🙂 thanks for the great support as per usual!”
