Terry eager to sign new Chelsea deal

Chelsea captain John Terry has reiterated that he is keen to sign on for another year at Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has already made it clear he and the club are keen to keep the long-serving 34-year-old defender when his deal runs out at the end of the season.

And Terry has said he is prepared to fall in with the club’s policy of only offering one-year contracts to their more experienced players.

“I want to stay,” said Terry, who made his debut in 1998 and has played more than 650 games for the the club.

“Hopefully my performances are showing that and they can keep me.

“I’ll be happy to get one year and then see how it goes. I’m taking it year by year. I haven’t got much choice.”

Former England skipper Terry is an ever present in the league this term, helping Chelsea to the top of the Premier League where they have a seven-point lead over Manchester City.
