Willian scored two brilliant goals as Chelsea got the win they required to seal their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas also scored, both from the penalty spot, in a resounding victory for the Blues.

Qarabag were reduced to 10 men after 19 minutes when Rashad Sadygov was red-carded after fouling Willian in the box, and Hazard scored with the resulting spot-kick.

Chelsea started without an out and out striker, with Hazard leading the attack supported by Willian and Pedro.

And the trio combined to double the lead in fine style eight minutes before half-time.

Pedro found Willian, who nudged the ball to Hazard and then collected the Belgian’s back-heel before side-footing into the corner of the net.

Michel had gone close for the home side early on when he fired against the bar.

But Chelsea were comfortable after the sending-off and opening goal.

They strolled through the second half and substitute Alvaro Morata missed a chance to add a third when he shot wide after being put through by Antonio Rudiger.

Fabregas eventually made it three after Willian had won another penalty, this time when the Brazilian drew a foul from Gara Garayev.

Fabregas duly netted – twice. He was ordered to retake his penalty because of encroachment by Chelsea players and kept his composure, finding same corner of the net.

And Willian, on his 200th appearance for Chelsea, struck again with five minutes remaining, collecting Pedro’s pass and belting home from 25 yards out.

Chelsea: Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Rudiger; Zappacosta, Kante (Drinkwater 75), Fabregas, Alonso (Cahill 57); Willian, Hazard (Morata 64), Pedro.
Subs not used: Caballero, Christensen, Sterling, Bakayoko.
