Pedro and Oscar considered for different roles

Pedro and Oscar might feature in new roles at Chelsea if they are to fit into the 3-4-3 system, boss Antonio Conte has said.

Both were utilised in slightly different positions in the 2-1 EFL Cup defeat at West Ham on Wednesday

Pedro played at wing-back after coming on as a substitute, while Oscar started the game as one of three forwards before dropping deeper into a two-man, rather than three-man, midfield.

Despite the defeat, Conte insisted he was happy with what he saw from his experimental line-up.

“I saw a lot of things that can be useful for our future,” he said.

“I saw Pedro as wing-back and Oscar in the two in midfield, and in the position like a striker.

“I think I had a positive answer and I want to use this answer in the Premier League in the future.

“Now I have more solutions because I tested this.”

  • We all know mind games are played before each game. Mourinho uses Portuguese Deco to make headlines. Before Chelsea game there were two headlines from Deco declarations, first: He declared Mourinho ManU will be champions, second: He asked for John Terry in Chelsea defense against ManU.
It is evident why he was asking for Terry, Remember Mourinho without reason brough Deco to Chelsea, now still working for Mourinho trying to confuse Conte into using the media machine troyan horse Terry?. Just the day before the match those headlines were on the media.
Naive Conte has to learn a lot about the Premier League, so he will realize what we are talking about. So he should not be declaring to the media that younsters were responsible of the defeat against WestHam. It was not youngsters fault, was Conte's Nonsensical selections!
Why played the 3 succesful defenders out of positions, not resting 1 of them, and included Terry?
Not only destroyed the defense, but lost one man to midfield or attack!
When he decided to make substitutions, he had to replace Terry first, not Batshuashi, or Chalobah. Totally nonsense from Conte!.
Just for including Terry, the media machine got what they wanted, problems in chelsea, the youngsters lambasted, Conte ridiculized, Chelsea out of a competition, important players not properly rested and his troyan horse Terry not a single headline against his desastrous football. CONTE naive
