Transfer gossip: Telegraph say Pellegrini wants Caballero

Some of the recent transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

New West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign Willy Caballero, the Daily Telegraph say.

The goalkeeper has acted as Thibaut Courtois’ stand-in at Chelsea since leaving Manchester City, where he played under Pellegrini.

The Telegraph say he is among up to seven signings Pellegrini is keen to make following his arrival at the London Stadium.

Morata reportedly holds Juve talks

Alvaro Morata continues to be linked with a move to Juventus.

Reports in Italy and his native Spain say the Chelsea striker has held talks with Juve about a return to the Turin club, where he previously enjoyed two seasons on loan from Real Madrid.

Willian desperate to stay – Sun

Willian is desperate to stay at Chelsea but his future depends on whether the club sack Antonio Conte, according to The Sun.

It follows reports that Manchester United are interested in the Brazilian, whose relationship with Conte is said to have deteriorated.

Chelsea are widely tipped to replace Conte as manager this summer.

And The Sun say Willian, along with the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and David Luiz, is waiting to see if Conte leaves before committing his future to the club.

A ‘Chelsea insider’ is quoted as saying: “Willian loves Chelsea. The club means so much to him.

“It’s not even that he loves life in London. It’s Chelsea.

“He was on his way to Tottenham and did a U-turn to sign for Chelsea after all.”

Lewandowski linked

Chelsea continue to be linked with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Daily Telegraph say the Poland international is Chelsea’s number one transfer target this summer.

It follows recent reports that Lewandowski is planning to leave Bayern and is keen to move to England.

Hazard speculation

Manchester City continue to be linked with Hazard.

There were reports last month that City could move for the Belgian this summer if he does not sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, where he is under contract until 2020.

Claiming an exclusive, the Daily Star say City are planning a £100m move for Hazard.

Over the weekend,  The Sun declared that City “will make a sensational swoop” and “would not hesitate to make a £100m-plus bid” if Hazard decides to leave.

The Sun said City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to sign him and that the newly-crowned champions would be willing meet Hazard’s wage demands, which are reported to be £300,000 a week.

Real Madrid have also been linked with Hazard, who has said he is happy at Chelsea despite the Blues missing out on the Champions League.

The Sun quoted ‘an Etihad source’ as saying: “The club would be at the front of the queue if Hazard becomes available this summer.

“The boss has long considered him a cracking player. He has already told the board how much he admires him.

“The club have been keeping a watchful eye. They know his value will drop if his deal continues to run down.

“Pep is refusing to spend money for the sake of it. He only wants a player who can take the squad to the next level.

“Hazard is in his prime and requires no introduction to the rigours of the Premier League.”
