Zola’s future at Chelsea in doubt, Times say

Stories in Friday’s newspapers involving Chelsea…

Gianfranco Zola’s future at Chelsea is in doubt, The Times reports.

The legendary former Blues player was given a one-year contract when he returned to the club as assistant manager last summer.

The Times reports he has not been offered a new deal and fears for his future at Stamford Bridge.

It comes as head coach Maurizio Sarri is preparing to leave Chelsea to take over as Juventus boss.

Zola is a hugely popular figure among Chelsea fans

Several newspapers report that outgoing Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri, who had been linked with the Chelsea job, is out of the running after announcing that he plans to take a year off.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star say Chelsea will refuse to sell Kurt Zouma because of the prospect of a transfer ban.

Zouma spent last season on loan at Everton, who are keen to buy him this summer.

However, with Gary Cahill having left and a transfer ban preventing Chelsea from signing another defender, the Star reckon Zouma will be staying at the Bridge.
