Transfer gossip: Whites tipped to land Cahill

Some of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…

Fulham are close to clinching the signing of Gary Cahill, The Sun reports.

The Chelsea defender, whose contract is due to expire this summer, has been linked with several clubs, including Arsenal.

However, West London Sport revealed last month that Fulham are looking to take him to Craven Cottage.

And The Sun now declare that Whites boss Claudio Ranieri “is ahead of Arsenal” in a supposed race to snap up Cahill, who had been tipped to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Cahill will reportedly be granted a loan move for the rest of the season if a permanent deal is not agreed.

Speculation over Abraham

There continues to be speculation that Tammy Abraham’s season-long loan at Aston Villa will be terminated and that Chelsea will send him on loan to a Premier League club for the second half of the season.

Abraham has impressed in the Championship and took his goal tally for the season to 16 by scoring twice against QPR on New Year’s Day.

The Sun say Abraham wants Chelsea to recall him amid apparent interest from a number of top-flight clubs.

The Daily Mail say Wolves are leading a chase to snap up the England international ahead of Huddersfield and Burnley.

Villa manager Dean Smith has insisted that Abraham is happy at the Midlands club and has shown “no inclination” to be recalled, while Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says he is not tempted to recall Abraham to his squad despite the Blues’ current shortage of attacking options.

Fabregas expected to complete Monaco move

The Mail also reports that Monaco are set to complete the signing of Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea.

It comes after French publication L’Equipe reported that Fabregas, who was a team-mate of Monaco boss Thierry Henry at Arsenal, could complete the move by the end of this week.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Fabregas, who has made 499 appearances in English football, wants to make it 500 before moving on.

Inter linked with Kovacic

The Daily Express have picked up on reports in Italy that Inter Milan are planning a move to sign Mateo Kovacic at the end of the season.

It is claimed that Chelsea want to sign the on-loan Real Madrid midfielder on a permanent deal but that Inter are determined to buy him.
