Transfer gossip: Chelsea linked with Coutinho

The transfer stories involving Chelsea in Sunday’s newspapers…

Chelsea have made an enquiry about former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, according to the Sunday Express.

The Brazilian playmaker has struggled to make an impact at Barcelona since leaving Anfield.

And the Sunday Express claim Chelsea and Manchester United have both expressed an interest in taking him back to the Premier League.

The newspaper claim Chelsea have been told he would cost £100m but that the Blues have not been put off.

Hudson-Odoi tipped to reject offer

Callum Hudson-Odoi will turn down a contract offer from Chelsea, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Bayern Munich want to sign the teenager, who is said to be keen to make the move.

The Mail on Sunday say Hudson-Odoi, whose current deal expires next year, has been offered £85,000 a week to stay at Chelsea but is determined to leave.

Higuain loan ‘will cost £15m’

Gonzalo Higuain will be paid £270,000 per week at Chelsea, the Daily Star Sunday say.

The striker, who played under Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri at Napoli and is currently on a season-long loan at AC Milan from Juventus, is expected to complete his move to Stamford Bridge in the next couple of days.

The Daily Star Sunday say he will be among the Premier League’s top earners and that Chelsea are paying a £9m fee to Juventus, meaning it would cost around £15m to have Higuain for four months.

The newspaper also claim a permanent deal for Higuain would cost another £35m.
