Di Matteo expects Chelsea duo to stay

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo says he expects Florent Malouda and Yossi Benayoun to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Malouda has been widely tipped to leave west London this summer, with a number of clubs reported to be interested in the France international.

Israeli playmaker Benayoun, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, has also been linked with a move.

But Di Matteo said: “They are part of the squad and are contracted with Chelsea. I expect them to be here at the start of pre-season and the season.”

Chelsea have added to that squad with the recent signings of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin.

More new faces are likely to arrive as the Blues look to improve on last term’s sixth-placed finish.

“I’m pretty happy with the team but if there’s an opportunity to improve then we’ll look at it,” Di Matteo added.
