Chelsea set to give Joao Pedro new long-term contract
Chelsea striker Joao Pedro is set to sign a new six-year contract.
The 24-year-old Brazil international, who joined from Brighton last summer in a transfer worth an initial £55m plus £5m in add-ons, has agreed a deal until 2032 – and it includes the option of two further years.
Last season, Joao Pedro became the first Chelsea player since Diego Costa to score 20 goals in a single campaign, not including penalties.
He has netted eight goals in seven pre-season matches ahead of Monday’s Premier League opener against Fulham.
His form has led to him being handed the number nine shirt previously worn by Liam Delap, who looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge.
