Abraham keen to prove himself in Premier League

Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham has told BBC Sport he is confident he can make the step up to the Premier League during his loan spell with Swansea.

The 19-year-old scored 26 times while at Bristol City last season and believes he can transfer that goalscoring form in the Championship to the top flight.

“I just want to do the best I can and hopefully beat last year’s goal tally. That’s what I’ll go for,” Abraham said.

“I’m going to prove to the gaffer [Swansea manager, and former Chelsea coach, Paul Clement] why he brought me in.

“This is the best league in the world so I know I’m going to come across some world-class players.

“It’s a fantastic squad and I’m playing with players I grew up watching, so it’s a dream come true.”

Abraham swept the board at Bristol City’s player of the year awards last season and signed a new five-year deal with Chelsea prior to his latest loan move.

And he is keen to show Swansea supporters that he is capable of performing at the top level.

“I have to show the fans what I’m truly made of and what kind of player I am,” the England youth international said.

“I score goals but I’ve got good feet, good pace as well, so I would like to show the fans and help the team as much as I can while I’m here.”
