Chelsea make approach for Luiz

David Luiz could make a shock return to Chelsea from Paris St-Germain.

The Blues, who are looking for a centre-back, have enquired about the availability of Luiz, 29, who they sold to the French club in 2014.

Chelsea are keen to add a central defender to their squad ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

They have been unable to agree a deal with Napoli for Kalidou Koulibaly, while AC Milan have similarly refused to part with Alessio Romagnoli.

And in a surprise development, Chelsea have turned their attention to Luiz, who made 81 Premier League appearances for the club during a three-and-a-half-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
