Chelsea v Tottenham player ratings

An error by keeper Mike Penders helped Tottenham to victory at Stamford Bridge, where Cole Palmer was sent off. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the 2-0 defeat.
Mike Penders: 5
Handed his first league start because of Emiliano Martinez’s injury, the 21-year-old dealt confidently with most of what came his way, including Omar Marmoush’s close-range effort. But under pressure from Jan Paul van Hecke he punched a 77th-minute corner into his own net, and Mathys Tel then beat him at his near post.
Josh Acheampong: 6
Solid on the right of the back three and rarely beaten in one-on-one situations. Produced a fine sliding tackle to stop Tel late on.
Maxence Lacroix: 6
Made a number of timely blocks and clearances while Spurs were on top, including a vital tackle on James Maddison in the box. Tel cut inside him for the second goal though.
Levi Colwill: 6
Strong in the air and dealt well with balls into the box on the left of the defence. Not at fault for the late goals.
Pedro Neto: 7
Chelsea’s most effective player at both ends. Won the ball back high up the pitch several times, forced Antonin Kinsky into two saves and had a rebound ruled out for offside. Booked on 79 minutes and replaced by Danny Welbeck soon after.
Moises Caicedo: 7
The captain worked tirelessly to break up Spurs’ play and won a string of individual battles, notably against Maddison before the Tottenham man went off injured early in the second half.

Jordan Henderson: 6
Did his job in a hard-fought midfield, but could not beat Kinsky when he had Chelsea’s clearest sight of goal before the break.
Jorrel Hato: 5
Spent most of the evening keeping Mohammed Kudus quiet and offered little going forward. His quick free-kick did create a chance for Neto just before half-time. Replaced on 65 minutes.
Cole Palmer: 5
Forced a good save from Kinsky early on and worked hard without the ball. But he was booked for handling and then clashing with Mateus Fernandes, and was sent off 10 minutes later for a second yellow card after a late challenge on Conor Gallagher.
Geovany Quenda: 5
Started on the left and won a free-kick in a dangerous area in the first half, but was unable to make much happen and was replaced on 72 minutes.
Morgan Rogers: 5
Led the line and linked up with Palmer at times, testing Kinsky with a low shot in the first half. Service was limited, and he was booked in stoppage time.
Marco Palestra: 6
Added energy on the flank and competed well physically as Chelsea changed shape.
Estevao: 6
Lively from the moment he came on and fired into the side netting from a tight angle within two minutes, but the red card soon pushed Chelsea onto the back foot.
