Chelsea to table bid for Saints prospect

Chelsea are set to table a formal bid for Southampton prospect Luke Shaw in an attempt to beat Manchester City to the highly-rated 16-year-old’s signature.

A number of top clubs have been tracking Shaw and Chelsea’s interest became clear during the January transfer window.

Southampton insisted they did not want to sell the left-back, who has made one senior appearance for the newly promoted club.

But with champions City believed to be waiting to pounce, Chelsea are ready to make their move and will offer an initial fee of around £4m.

Shaw, who turns 17 later this month, was born in Kingston-upon-Thames and has been on Southampton’s books since the age of eight.

Arsenal are thought to be interested in him as well, and he has also been monitored by Liverpool.

  • There is absolutely no chance of Arsenal Man City Barcelona Real Madrid Uncle Tom Cobbley and all signing any of the talent coming out of the Saints academy.
Saints are back in the Premiership and there to stay. Shaw and others will play first team football this season and mark my words will blaze a trail comparable to the Busby babes years ago.
Saints will sign very few players this summer such is the talent available to the club.
Be prepared to be shocked. The saints are coming to town!!!
