Bertrand has Chelsea future – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has suggested that Ryan Bertrand could still be a Chelsea player next season.

The left-back has impressed for Aston Villa, where he is on loan for the rest of the current campaign.

Villa want to sign him on a permanent basis this summer and he appeared to have no future at Stamford Bridge when Mourinho deployed Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back before allowing Bertrand, 24, to leave on loan.

But Blues boss Mourinho insisted: “He has a future at Chelsea. Of course he has a future.

“The decision to let him go was good because he’s playing and what he needed was to play in every game. But maybe next season he is with us.”

Chelsea face Villa on Saturday – a match Bertrand cannot play in under the terms of his loan deal.
